Returnless feul system
 

I'm tossing around the idea of converting to a returnless feul system for my '87 turbo. I can probably fabricate it myself but was curious if anyone was already using or know of anything allready made out there.??

Unless you're making massive numbers your money is far better spent elsewhere. The stock fuel system (not including pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator) has been proven to work just fine as high as 600RWHP... I wouldn't let it go beyond the upper 5's.

What mods are you currently running, what injectors (the stocker will most likely leak like a garden hose at this high of constant pressure) and what type of fuel control (engine management) are you running?

Everything but the engine is still stock. The car is gutted. All the plumbing was rusting out so I tore all that out as well. Probably 3/8 stainless or nylon will replace that. I haven't decided on pump, regulator, or management yet but I'll most likely be going with 550cc injectors with a target HP in the 400-500 range.

The car will ultimately be more of a trophy than a driver. Most important to me is getting rid of unnecessary clutter. I'm going to replace the ugly feul rail and eliminate the return plumbing. Money isnt really an issue on this project anymore. The long-block overhaul has allready taken me past what I thought I was going to spend on this so now its getting the works.

I've never converted a vehicle to a returnless setup so I can't give you much assistance. If you're familiar with the headaches associated with the conversion and have a means of controlling the in-tank regulator then go for it... and take notes, I'll be wanting copies. ;)



EDIT: I've got to admit that my first assumption was that you were going to be doing this for all the wrong reasons and going to do it half-assed (ie: no in-tank regulator and no controller) as I've seen done elsewhere online... Do it right and yeah, it'll reduce clutter AND it'll reduce evaporative emissions... The hardest part is going to be controlling the regulator if you don't use a aftermarket EMS which specifically supports it.

I wouldn't mind doing this myself.... I wonder if I can talk Bob into adding the control support to the MAFT Pro.... hmmmm...
