with the standalone i can tune the 850's down so i didnt wanna buy a bigger size later on down the road!

This is for the benefit of other readers, not yourself two-step-n.

Keep in mind that you can only pull so much from the injector duty cycle before you have to start reducing fuel pressure; Too little fuel pressure and the injector spray pattern goes to hell. I'm sure you'll be able to tune it decently, just making sure you've considered it. No biggie on a track car, but it does happen that people go too big and find that the minimum flow required for a clean spray pattern isn't really streetable anymore. I know there are people running MoTeC's with even larger injectors though. Each EMS has its limitations and you need to keep them in mind when building.

EDIT: BTW, I do hope you actually make use of the full capability of those... that'll be one hell of a beast! http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/icq/yahoo.gif

It looks great so far... Let me know how that AEM EMS works out for you because I am considering on purchasing one in the near future :D

two-step-n 11-13-2009 06:52 AM

my friend has a 88 toyota pick with a 7mgte swap we plugged the aem ems into it with a stock tune and wow its so crazy the thing you can do and so ez to uses make sure you get the plug-n-play tho unless you wanna do alot more work to install. its really cool all the settings and maps its nuts

You'll need to swap in all the GTE electronics. They don't make an AEM EMS for the GE. Not a huge deal, you'll still be able to tune for the N/A but the AEM is built to use the GTE's electronics and harness.

any issue with blocking off the egr? i'd like to remove mine but have mixed views since some say it is a bad idea, but why then do they make the blockoff plates as well as many people use them?

Usually they're used out of ignorance... people make them because people buy them. It's simple. There's a LOT of info on the procedure and what the negative indications of doing this are and how to avoid them (although it's not worth the bother, just leave it there and make sure it's functioning properly).

The short and sweet of it is that EGR reduces chamber temps (GOOD), increases mileage (GOOD), reduces knock (GOOD) and doesn't affect your power at WOT (no difference here except that your cylinders are cooler when first stomp on it). Vehicles without this equipment are tuned to run richer to compensate for the higher engine temps.

There's no point to this unless you're running the engine in a dedicated track car with certain requirements.

907mge 03-05-2010 03:07 AM

ok ok I won't remove it

cre 03-05-2010 03:26 AM

Do as you wish, it is your car. Just make sure you know what you're doing before you do a mod; search and read... Props for asking, but a demerit for not searching.

two-step-n 03-06-2010 07:35 AM

i put the egr back on just to be on the safe side.
