I have come across a 1988 Toyota Supra w/Turbo thats in fair to good condition, with excellent cloth interior, It has a bad Crankshaft, actually the bearings are out, but we all know when the bearings are out, the other expessive thing is bad as well. It has some minor exterior defaults. Some minor rust that unfortunately he painted over so i cannot see how bad it is. but it seems in pretty good shape. It has 140k miles on it. Is it a good buy or is it a pass? Another words if i was to buy it and fix it to sell it, what would i be able to make in return on it?

i actually love the car and would probably end up keeping it for a toy on the side of my project jeep. but is $1000 worth the buy?

how much are the repairs going to cost? how long will it take you to repair it? if you rebuild the engine, then maybe u could get a return, but personally, if i was looking to buy a car that i was going to use as a daily driver i wouldnt buy one so old. but thats my opinion, plus i wouldnt pay more than 3000 for it, seeing as it wont last that long so it depends on how mch u spend on it

hi
a bit of a classic car so its only viable if you can afford to lose money on it. ;) Ipicked up my 3.0t quite tidy runs + idle good.?100
costs to return all to servicable and improve seem limitless

how much is that? i cant do that funky L thingy i only have a $ so how much would that be in american money?

sam 11-23-2004 04:35 AM

good question, how much in american is that? i swear all countrys should just use $, it make life so much easier. and also i think ive decided to not buy it, kinda seems like too much of a hole to get stuck in. but thanks for the replys, it helped make the decision!

if you have the cash, go for it, but dont expect to make a profti selling it unless you find a diehard collector. its all about the cash, which is sadly true

hi
?100 is prob around a couple of hundred dollars or so.
For a car thats very clean + smooth thats nothing . 2nd hand coil pack ,new leads ,plugs, fuel, cost ?130
Knowing old cars i expect the money needed to restore to reasonable servicable condition before tuneing ,is priceless.
just spent 5yrs evolving an sd1 rover vitesse v8 to a mild overhaul with many mods at a total loss ov funds just to gain fun/drifting /cool priceless value.I dont expect my supra to be any cheaper.Though the motor hopefully can be poked a bit for less dosh? B) :)
