Im a long time fan of the Supra and new to it. I just got a 86.5 N/A Supra for$100 and I plan on droping a GTE in her. Im trying to figure out what all the parts are and what they do before I buy a turbo 7MGTE and drop it in. Its the silver square box with lines coming out of it beside the turbo on GTE model Supras. N/a's dont have them, I guess b/c it is for the turbo. Just tell me what it is, what it does and do I need it for the 7MGTE. I tryed to pull up a pic in the forum but its not working.

ok thanks, dump me should have seen that. I guess that means I dont have them. I've only seen it on turbo cars and not n/a.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wern't ABS braking systems optional for all MKIII Supras. They became standard on the 1991 version I think. It wasn't just a turbo thing, it was optional for N/A too.

Yes ABS was an option on all MKIIIs, I live in Arizona and here I have only seen 1 or 2 without ABS. As far as doing a 7MGTE swap get a low milage front clip. This will give you everything you need to do the swap. Just buying and engine set will only get you half the parts. You will still need a down pipe, intercooler pipes, an intercooler, the stock oil cooler, as well as power steering lines and overflow tank. All of these are parts that are different and needed to do the jod right.

ABS became standard in 89.

Not having the stock intercooler could be a good thing, spend his money on getting a better one  But yes, having the entire front clip would be nice...

Cool, thanx guys. As for the additional parts I know. I plan on going aftermarket for the coolers. Somebody told me that the 89 and above CPU's have the altitude compensator build in to it so I dont have to buy it separate and install it. I was also wanting to know would it be a good ideal to get the turbo cluster also. I've been thinking about it but might must get the turbo gauge away. Thanks for helping me out.

if you want to do a bunch of work and have a sub accurate boost gauge, install tha turbo cluster,if you want accuracy get a greddy or hks,or apexi,or whatever higher quality boost gauge.
