i found these stats, thought people might want to read them.

NA
http://www.suprastore.com/19to19nonspe.html

Turbo
http://www.suprastore.com/19turspec.html

http://www.suprastore.com/stivimk3tu7m.html

i thought that looked interesting.

bare in mind people "Torque" makes your car go fast not HP, and i think the stats prove that.

NA = 200 HP
NA = 187 FLBT
Turbo = 230 HP
turbo = 245 FLBT

*HP - horse power
** FLBT - Foot pounds of Torque

Ya those numbers are right but keep in mind thats horse power at the flywheel not at the wheels.

yeah, but his point was that the torque is what matters. Good example is a guy racing autocross and has crap for HP, but he has TONS of torque. Guess who's gonna get out of the corner faster? :lol:

Ok, guess I didn't clarify my question:

If I convert my NA to Turbo by adding Turbo and Turbo pistons to my NA engine, can expect the same HP gain as swapping for a 7MGTE?

i would think so, i dont think the pistons are any differant, thow they might be lower comprestion, ive not looked it up, but i would think you would get around the same HP, i was just pointing out that the turbo only adds 30HP (stock) but the torque is largly incressed.

dont forget crank & rods, as the non turbo has a different stroke length. keep in mind the turbo block also has oil squirters

Dished pistons in the Turbo model, and domed in the N/A. Another knock sensor, oil passages, ect. Lots of little things, but basily the same engine.

Nah, think the stroke is the same because the displacement is the same, unless you're comparing to the R model with the 1JZ...

I have a NA supra with 130,000 miles original, i plan on swappin a 7m-gte in it later when this motor is done, which i don't think is even close, but in the mean time, would it make a difference if i swapped out my injectors from the NA 380cc to the turbo 440cc, or is it even possible?

Poodles 09-10-2005 05:51 AM

won't make any difference besides running really rich...
