I was thinking around 300whp?
Alright what kinda whp numbers should i expect to get in a

1987 supra turbo 7mgte

mods include

metal head gasket
ARP Studs

boost controller set to around 9 psi

K+N air filter

New 3inch elbow

....

what kinda numbers do u get when u add in complete 3 inch exhaust?

ddmcse 08-05-2005 01:42 PM

spend 60 bucks and get it to a dyno .
it's a good idea to get some kind of baseline .
i got a big lift from the 3 " cat back (no cat) prolly around 35 hp .. adding 3" elbow and 3" no pre-cat downpipe was "more" icing on the cake .

using :
elect fan
no a/c
no cat
frees a little more juice

bigal0043 08-05-2005 01:55 PM

yea the closest dyno is like 2 and half hours away so i was just curious on what other people were putting down when they had those mods

daiagaru2 08-05-2005 02:12 PM

with those mods and a couple pounds more boost you will be very close to the ball park,of course if you remove the cat(s) then it is an off road vehicle, include a 3" down pipe and your really close.of course altitude and weather conditions durring testing will affect your power #.

bigal0043 08-05-2005 02:19 PM

At 9 psi i shouldnt hit fuel cut off should i?
ive heard u can go to 10psi but may hit fuel cut off now and then

Thanks for ur reply

ddmcse 08-05-2005 02:38 PM

fco depends on a lot of factors .including outside temp and humidity

exact fco today is going to be different tonight and tomorrow

for example if are set to boost 9 lbs and are missing fco in the afternoon the next morning when you go for that first boost everything is cool and you'll get more air which will prolly hit fco one time that first time .

bigal0043 08-05-2005 03:02 PM

alright ill keep that in mind then....

to raise the fuel cut off i need a lexus afm right??
i know i need 550cc injectors and a upgraded fuel pump

i was looking at this on ebay... is this a fake??

get a fuel cut defencer from hks, this should solve the problem.

Poodles 08-06-2005 05:45 AM

Yes, using the lexus AFM with larger injectors is a great upgrade. It's not only to up fule cut, but to keep on the safe side of flowing enough fuel to keep you from going lean. Do NOT install just the AFM, you need to do the AFM and injectors at the same time unless you want to throw your ratio so far out of whack you'll run either really rich, or so lean you break something...

Elbow's are good addons for the engines. Seing the dyno sheets is pretty scary about waht just a down tube and exhaust will do... personally I want a divorced down pipe which vents excess boost from the wastegate out a seperate path instead of interupting exhaust flow.

i haven't seen anyone mention the custom air screw needed for the lexus air flow meter

i am having one made

bigal0043 08-06-2005 06:08 PM

Yea i know not to get just a fuel defender cuz i dont want to detonate....

But yea what does that screw do in the lexus afm???

ddmcse 08-06-2005 06:22 PM

it adjusts the un-metered air thats allowed in by the lexus afm.

without the screw you have alot of un measured air

bigal0043 08-06-2005 06:34 PM

cool where did u get ur afm from? and where are u getting the bolt made at

ddmcse 08-06-2005 08:32 PM

the afm :
i got mine a long while back from a online junl dealer for about 75$
it's been sitting for years . i've wanted to get other things in place first
the screw is being made for me by some guy at work . it's taking months but he knows i don't have the injectors yet .
you might be able to buy one from the guy in canada but it's like 100$

Poodles 08-07-2005 05:05 AM

Though it won't really matter as it's calibrated for that opening to be there. I'd pop it on a dyno and make sure it's not going lean, if it's not, I'd leave it alone...

ddmcse 08-07-2005 10:02 AM

calibrated for what? a lexus v8?

Poodles 08-08-2005 09:43 AM

an AFM can work even if it's only metering a percentage of the overall air that passes through it if it's calibrated for such a thing, if that hole is supposed to be there on the V8, more than likely it is added into the 25% increase in airflow.

Personally, I'm thinking that that screw is just some guy's way of making money <_<

ddmcse 08-08-2005 10:19 AM

if you havent ever installed one my advice is
"get screwed"

bigal0043 08-08-2005 02:49 PM

alright well im not thinking about doing this for a little while maybe buy a part a month or something next summer is when i wanna do all that stuff
