Random turbo elbow question

ok so i am thinking of replacing the turbo elbow with an after market one. right now it is apart because of my hg job. but the thing is.. i took all of the bolts holding the turbo and elbow together.. yet not matter what i do so far it just isn't coming apart. it isnt even cracking a bit... has anyone run into this?

It's typical Kev. That joint is a rough one to seperate if they've been bolted together a good long time. Just keep working at it and they'll eventually come apart.

BTW, rather than just getting an AM elbow have you thought about getting a recirculated DDP with the elbow as part of the pipe? Kill 2 birds with one stone. Just a thought...

yea thought about a dp that replaces elbow too but i already have a 3 inch dp that starts from the elbow. still cant get it seperated though.. it doesnt even wiggle.. tried smacking it apart with a hammer.. didnt work.. used a ton of penetrating spray. tried wedging a chisel in to seperate them but that didnt work either :(

I'm trying to remember what it took to separate the two when I did my engine swap. I'll get back to you on it.

Use an anti sieze spray, a pry bar and a BFH (Big F* hammer)

Thats what it took for me to get the elbow off about 2 months ago.

lol. what exactly did u hit with the hammer. where did u have the prybar? i dont wanna damage anything

I used pry bars and flat screwdrivers. right at the top of the elbow, i just smashed the screwdriver in the center, then when i eventually got a small gap (wrecked a couple screwdrivers) i got the pry bar in. took a long time but got the somebitch off!
