Timing question
Ok so i changed my hg. i wanna set my timing. so i know that u need to place a jumperand set the cams to the groves on the plate and the crank at 0, then put the cps making sure the thing lines up. then hook up the timing light to spark wire #1 and the other leads to the battery. i am aware that i adjust the timing by moving the cps.
my question is.. how do we set the timing to 10* by looking at the notch on the crank? where do we line it up because i do see the timing numbers on the plate behind the crank but there isnt any clear notches to line up with? am i supposed to eyeball it to the center of the number? and how do we line it up when the notch on the crank is at the fron and the numbers are at the back? just by eye? Also the timing light i have has a knob with degrees on it.. do i leave it at 0? |
Set the crank-pulley marker on zero, cygnusx1 set the timing light at zero also

Good write up HERE don’t forget this for a 7M-GTE, you can either use # 1 or # 6 HT leads for the timing light connection, as the coil pack fires pairs of HT leads. 7M-GE use # 1 HT lead only. The notch on the pulley is as in the diagram posted.
