7MGE ECU problems
 

I have a 7mge in my 89 runner... For the most part it seems to have run fine for about the last year... On may long it started to sputter a bit at lower rpms and the tach and a couple other gauges went whacky. Now I can hardly drive it it sputters so bad. My check engine light doesn't work either even from the pin at the computer it doesn't ground the wire. My only guess is to try a new ecu. Oh ya it doesn't seem to adjust idle or anything when its cold either. Any ideas?

You could see if the throttle position sensor is unplugged/not working. I had a similar problem a couple days ago and discovered that my TPS was unplugged a couple days ago and it fixed my wacky tach gauge right up. As for sputtering, I'd check your spark plugs to see if they're firing properly... That's what I'd do, but I'm pretty new to dealing with these engines, so if someone sees something wrong about my advice, feel free to correct me. :)

I have adjusted and checked the TPS sensor and its all good, and just replaced everything in the ignition without fixing the problem... Any other ideas?
