I would try not using the a/c for a whole day and see how it acts it may be the compressor seizing up when you turn it on. I would also have someone turn it on when you have the hood open and see how the compressor reacts does it slow down and seem the belt is just rubbing across the pulley? And then turn it off when you notice the engine about to stall and see if the engine clears up.
