hey i drive a 88 turbo mk3. when i bought it the tach never worked and today i ran a wire stright from the igniter to it and it worked. but it shows i am idoling at 200 and while driving it will not rev past 1500 (the tach).

any ideas why?

Never had the problem and not even sure how to fix it but you should go look for a manual and check all the sensors, fuses, and relays. I'm assuming the supra runs on an electric tach gauge?
