Anyone know how this could happen

I Bought this car. was told it had BHG. pulled head and found this.
so now i pulled motor and will rebuild a turbo motor to put back in but i was thinking if I use the non turbo electronics with the turbo engine that should work right?
this is what the car looks like

i think you are better off with using turbo electronics if your gonna use a stock rebuilt turbo engine. probably save you loads of headaches.

well i dont have a ECU or harness for the turbo engine... im getting the motor free just need to use crank and rods from non turbo motor and buy new rings and bearings

im not sure about this.. i did a bit of searching and reading and most people that do the swap use turbo electronics? correct me if im wrong someone. If you do get an ecu and harness for turbo. make sure its of the same year. i think pre 89 are not interchangable with post 89.

wont work

no the ecu from a non turbo will not work with the turbo engine. the injectors that r used in the two are different, and the engine compression is way off, oh and the reason it happen is because from the factory the use the wrong type of HG u must replace with metal HG for longer life, i would replace piston rings and have engine honed if ur going to keep it factory

i know how the HG blew but it dont actually look like it did the thing that looks wierd to me is the 2nd piston in the picture look at it. its melted and i can see the ring im trying to figure that out... from the way it looks the 2nd 3rd and 4th piston is running lean but what i dont know is why
i just bought the car and that is how it was when i got it.
and i dont understand y u cant use original ECU and harness with the original coil and distibuter. ppl turbo non turbo cars all the time. ill be using turbo block and factory turbo. i would think this should work. at this point i just want the car to go and i dont have much money to make it go...
that and first thing that ppl do when they see these cars in junk yard is pull ECU harness and the turbos and coils. so only way im going to get it is to order one and im kinda broke lmao.

the one piston melted is probably because the blown head gasket. the car probably ran too hot which can cause spark knock or pinging (pre ignition).. that can really raise the tempurature enough to melt the piston. as for the other ones looking like they were running rich.. i cant see all of them in the picture but maybe someone tried to stop the sparck knock by running rich? idk
yes people turbo non-turbo engines all the time.. but when they do they don't stick with stock ecu.. they atleast get something after market like some kinda chip specifically made to turbo that type of car or a different ecu to control the fuel etc. the turbo ecu and harness shouldnt be too much.. couple hundred dollars.. start saving while you are re-building the rest. look around the forums for people parting out their cars. call bunch of junkyards. u already got a great deal by getting the engine free.. you could trade the n/a ecu for the turbo one. or try to sell it for money. and part out anything working on the n/a engine that you wont be using for for some money and add it to your turbo funds.
