Alarm Won't Deactivate (Please Help!)

Hey guys, new poster.

I have a 89 w/7mge, I just bought the car. (first day of driving it - not a good way to start) Drove it to my girlfriend's house, locked the doors, came out a few hours later, unlocked the door with the key, opened the door, and the alarm started going off.

got in the car, turned the ignition on and the alarm deactivates - but turn the key to start and nothing happens. Same thing that it does when the clutch isn't pressed in. Tried hitting the unlock button on the door panel a couple times, no effect.

I looked through wiring diagrams and there's no clear cut fuse/relay for the security stuff. I didn't get a wireless remote with the car or anything. I'm going back to try again tomorrow, but i'm going to be stuck with a $100 tow bill if I don't figure something out fast.

Everybody here seems pretty knowledgeable, if anybody could give me a hand that'd be awesome.

Got it home today. Pulled the Cig & Dome fuses, found a wiring diagram for the security system, those are the only two fuses for the module. I think I have a bad lock actuator/solenoid in the passenger door which is why it wouldn't disarm.

yup that could def be your problem. toyota made it to where all window lock and security power comes from passenger door for some reason? lol. thats why i removed alarm and put autopage lol

Have you tried unlocking the door(s) from outside with the key? The correct sequence is to turn the key two times to lock position, then turn the key two times to unlock position. This is supposed to work from either drivers or passenger door. The interior door locks will not disarm the alarm. They, in fact, are what set it off. The system assumes that someone has reached in through the window to unlock the car and so disables the starter circuit. Interesting note here, when we first did it to my buddies Supra, we just push started it. The security system only disables the starter circuit, not the ignition.

Thanks. I Plugged in all the fuses and did the twice lock, twice unlock, and it disarmed. Now I have my radio and dome light back. Hehe
