Targa Top bolt is striped out

Hello,

I just bought a 1988 mk3 turbo and I found that the top leaks when I went to remove it I found 1 of the bolts are striped out and can not be titened down and this is why it leaks. where do I but a replacement bolt at? it is not a standerd bolt I can get at any hardwear store.

Thanks,
jeremy

i think is better to go to a pro service since those bolts are "special". good luck anyway.

I am a ASE master mechanic with a degerae from wyo tec and I have morked for ford as a ford master machanic for 15 years. I also have a 2 year degerae as a machinest. I do not need some one telling me I need to pay some one to replace a simple bolt. I already removed the bolt with out a problem. what I need to know is who sells them or do I need to spend th day programing the cnc leathe the make a bolt. I talked to toyota and there tec guys did not even know how to remove the bolt they said to just buy a hole new top, so I am already one step up on your "por service" guys. These kids today can not fix any thin all they can do is replace the hole broken unit.

JEEEZ, take a chill pill. If you can make it, why harass us? Like Nike sez, Just DO IT!

What's so 'special' anyways? Special head, special thread relief, special shank? You can't modify a standard fastener to fit? WTF?

The bolts are available through Toyota, regardless of what some techs told you. I had to buy a replacement set last year. The part # for the bolt is 90110-08009, the spring is 90501-07056, and the retaining clip is 90487-07057, but I would check those with the dealership just to be sure they match.

Oh, and if the housing it bolts into is shot, the number for it is 63245-14020.

Hope that helps get you squared away.
