Tail Light Questions

I have an 89 Supra and i want to fix my tail lights.

for one thing, when i turn the left signal on, the right signal light comes on in the rear as well (while the left signal light is signaling also, so it looks like i have hazards on) this also happens when i signal right, it still looks like i have hazards on. another thing that i noticed is that the turn signal lights are dim when they are on. i am also curious to know what the farthest light is for (i know the first 2 are for the brakes, the 3rd is for the signal, but the one in the corner?)

if anyone can help or give any suggestion on whats up with my car, that be niice =]

btw, can this be a faulty ground that is causing this oddity in my mk3?

hopefully your good with a test light or power probe....

first check all your fuses
start disconnecting the rear light connectors (the main harness, where all the wires go into) unplug it and try the signals... see if the left and right are still going at the same time (judging by the front markers) do that also for the other side.... maybe your shorting inside one of the connectors most likely...

if thats not it, then you gotta start checking wires starting at the lights and make your way to the multifunction switch..... maybe its your switch... see if the switch is sending power to the left and right wires at the same time....

other than that, get a schematic and go to town... hopefully your in a warm climate.... 32degrees here
