Please Help 7mgte Wont Start

for starters please look at my car domain site so you get the proper details about what i have done up to this point with the car. i purchased a 7mgte long block fully rebuilt with the head, as you will see in the pictures on my site. i installed the motor and ran it with all the other non turbo components (ecu, distributer exaust, n/a wiring harness ect.) the car was very sluggish dew to the low compression of the motor so i decided to install a turbo. i purchased 87 supra turbo just for all the components needed for the turbo swap. i read many threads and websites and swapped everything needed
Toyota supra 86.5 non turbo stock - rochester, New York
coil pack
igniter
cps
full wiring harness
ecu
manifold down pipe
intake
injectors and along with fuel rail and fpr
MAF
power steering resvior
thats all i can think of off the top of my head
i did forget to change the spark plugs from n/a to turbo
and i still have the stock w58 tranny

now the car is completely together but does not run i am getting fuel and i was not sparking so i made sure the timing was correct and now it kinda of sounds like it wants to spark and sometimes smoke will come out from the top of the motor it will back fire but will not start really odd. i re chect my wiring and the only thing i can think of is i only have 1 knock sensor in the car and yes i know it should have 2 but i dont have money to purchase another one yet. ANd everyhing worked fine when the components were in the 87 SO i am lost PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, on my N/A I had a similar problem. Ignition timing was off (Distributor 180 out). I know that the 7MGTE uses a Cam Position Sensor and Coil Packs instead of a distributor, but maybe your CPS is out of alignment, causing it to occasionally fire on the exhaust stroke.

Hope this gives you something to look at and hopefully fix

:gotnos:there is a good chance u could have a faulty coil pac they are known to have problems if the car sits what u need to do is pull each wire and crank test them to see if all are working rite

the thing is the coil pack worked when i removed it from the red supra which you can see on my car domain site (begining of thread)the car did not sit at all actually i got it drove it for a day and wasted no time on the swap, the swap only took me 2 weeks and before i did the swap i drove the red supra around and it ran fine grantit the body and suspension were shot but motor wise it ran and started fine. i literally swapped all parts over from one car to another which is why this makes no sense why my car will not work i just put in new spark plugs and still nothing, but testing the coil pack would not be a bad idea when you mean test them you mean pull each wire out with the spark plug and see if i get spark?
