Water temperature sensor question!

Idk if this is the good place to ask but here it goes anyways.

I wanted to replace the water temperature sensor and when unscrewed the old one i noticed that it was longer and thinner then the new one....

now would the thickness or length make any difference?
the new sensor is for the supra. now i did not change it yet. i dnt know why the new one is shorter nd thicker.. but just want to know before i change it.....

It may be from a diffrent wiring harness, pre 89 or 89+. Check the plug to make sure its the same, other than that it may just be a new design on a old plug.

its the same plug. just sensors different. but its for the n/a supra.
i asked this on another forums and they been talking about the thinner might get a better reading. but il just go with it and see what happens..

Question about Electric fan and water temp
 

I would like to adjust the temp setting on my factory electric fan so it will come on at a lower temp. How do I do this? I would like for it to come on around 170 degrees. Is there a way to adjust this setting in the ECU? Please contact me at brian_lindsey1997@yahoo.com
