New,just a few questions...

Hey i'm new/not new to the forums and i have a few questions. I'm buying another 1987 turbo supra with a few things wrong so I was wondering if anyone could help me out. 1) There seems to be a little fluid leaking around the top of the clutch pedal, any ideas what it's from? 2) it's sucking water, but not terribly. He replaced the Head gasket and ARP studs that were torqued to 75. What else could it be from? He had a radiator hose finally blow and had it replaced immediatly. Could there be a leak from one of the heater,radiator,etc... hoses? THanks for the input.

The clutch master cylinder can leak into the inside of the car. I have a nice stain on my rug under the floor mat due to a leak like that. The master cylinder is a royal PITA to replace. The nut on the left side, near the fender wall, is tricky to get to. I couldn't see mine, and had to put a socket on it blind. Getting it back on is the hardest. I actually lost the original nut somewhere under the dash, and had to use a replacement.

And, if your still running on original hoses, your lucky more haven't blown out. Plan a day to flush out the cooling system and replace the heater hoses. You'll be glad you did.

ok so I checked all the hoses and none have busted. I also have no heat now either. Could it be the Thermostat or possibly a bad water pump? What I think is happening is that the coolant isn't being pumped threw or if it is it's not getting all the way threw? Idea's? Also I noticed a small knock in the front part of the engine. Idea's?

IMMEDIATELY check your coolant level in the radiator. Keep an eye on it. Do not let it go dry.

You may want to consider a flush-n-fill, with a new radiator cap and new thermostat. Also, still replace the hoses. There may be an air bubble, so try and burp the engine when you re-fill. And read this post for more info to make sure the heater control valve works. Supra MkIII - Heater Problem Solving

Well it's ok now, the engine finally gave in and blew. I think it was the headgasket, but I won't know for sure until I tear it apart. Oh well, thanks for the help anyway. Any suggestions on other upgrades I should or could do while it's apart?

first and formost, get a mhg after you get the block and head finished... then i would replace all hoses regardless if they havent blew 20 yr old hoses = bad... make sure it run great before upgrade because then if not your asking for trouble... also like said before flush and refill your radiator... i personally would buy an aluminum one... i got a godspeed one off ebay and it works great, only buy it if you plan on getting electric fans because they are pretty big... i would then get a free flowing exhuast and down-pipe... go 3" from the turbo all the way back... mhg first!

Thanks, I was actually planning on getting a MHG. I took a look at it today and I'm sorta afraid I may have cracked the head. If I have does anyone know where I can het a good one at? Also it already has a custom 3 inch from the down pipe back. Any other suggestions as far as upgrades go?

Ok, so yeah I've cracked the bloody head. So now I have a question. Can you use a 7mge head on the 7mgte block?

CyFi6 11-17-2008 06:20 PM

the core head from the 7mge is identical, but you have to transfer some parts over such as the cams etc..
