88 to 89 convertion

How difficult would it be to put 89 tail lights spoiler and front bumper (Would the bumper match the rest of the 88 body?) on a 88 supra? I'm thinking of converting my 88 because i like the style of 89 but i couldn't find one that wasnt a piece or totally wrecked, plus when i tooked the 88 i bought for the first time i knew i had to buy her. If theres any guides out for this kind of things i would be truely greatful.

depending on where you are the differences can either be a lot or nothing at all. USDM supras don't have much difference if I remember correctly. Other countries have stark differences in the bodies. Here in the US, everything you want to do is just a matter of unbolting and bolting back on the parts you want. I am about to put an 89 or 90 front bumper skin on my 87 and it just bolts right on. Pretty much everything is interchangeable on the MA70 chassis.

check with your local toyota dealership. Some parts may still be available. Most likely you will need a parts car.

From what I have been told the 89+ tails will bolt on to a pre 89. The only catch is that you have to "egg" some of the holes out to let the studs on the 89+ tails go through.

Good luck.

egg as in wat? Drill halfway though making it a easier "plug in"?

In my experience it's a machinist term for a screw up while drilling a hole, lol. The drill bit goes in at a incorrect angle or walks and when its finished it doesn't leave a strait perfect hole. It looks as if it was more of a oval then a circle.

So you will just have to drill out some of the holes to get the studs through.

Hope this helps, good luck.
