Hose help?

Hey guys... it's been a long time since i've visited but I have a few more questions :D researching a possible bhg on my supra and found some other problems along the way.

1. what is the item I circled in blue? just curious.
2. what is the hose called that I circled in red? that way when i'm asking around for a new one I know what to call it :D (it has a whole in it)

The item in blue is the heater control valve. The open hose attachments are for the heater hose. It runs coolant to the heater core. The other hose is for crankcase ventilation.

In the blue is the water valve diaphram

and the red is the water line for the heater core.

have your dealership pull up a diagram of the cooling hoses and you can point to the one you need, its pretty specific and you arent going to find a generic hose that will work right

Go to this website and enter your vin # http://www.toyodiy.com
Search for heater hose and you should come up with the page in the link below.

Toyota Part # 87245-1B251 This is for a left hand drive Supra (NATO US)

The hose connects to the heater water union at the back of the head, part #90401-2204

Wow great reply bill uk.. i'm going to bookmark that site for future use.. And on the topic of the hose I ended up just going with a generic heater hose from kragen cause I live nowhere near a toyota dealership... and it seems to suffice... stopped the leak for sure.

more hose help, this time vacuum.

Also on the same subject of me not knowing what/where things are... can someone tell me if I have these hoses in the right spots? Shortly after me messing around in that area my cruise control and my heater stopped working... and this area of hoses is all I can think may have. caused it all. Also what is the item I circled in white? thanks in advance...

this may help too
MK3 TSRM On-Line

dannydavi 10-02-2008 03:07 AM

thanks i've switched the two you suggested. Also I finished doing a compression check... and got some bad results :(

O O O O O O>>
2nd run was after adding a lil oil to each cylinder like suggested in the tsrm...
1st, 2nd run
O O cylinder 6
165, 190
O O
90, 150
O O
126, 157
O O
120, 180
O O
150, 168
O O cylinder 1
156, 170

so perhaps I waited a lil to long after my car was warmed up to get accurate readings on the first run... but also noticed the amount of oil you put into cylinder changed the compression reading drastically as well.... so all in all i've come to the conclusion I don't know what i'm doing lol. but I do feel there is something wrong in this area, possible bhg/worn rings etc near cylinder 5. any comments are welcome.

were you holding the throttle wide open? how many times did you crank?

dannydavi 10-02-2008 05:27 AM

Didn't hold throttle open.... didn't know I was supposed to. tsrm I have didn't say anything about it :( and we cranked as many times until the needle stopped moving and reached it's max... roughly 5 I would say.

CyFi6 10-02-2008 07:56 AM

Try again and hold the throttle open this time, if you dont theres no way for air to get in there = no compression

dannydavi 10-02-2008 08:49 PM

dang mother F-er!! I wish it would have just said that... thanks for the reply, i'll let you know the results as soon as I get them.

paulmicin 10-02-2008 09:45 PM

tsrm states that throttle body should be removed.
