Best Exhaust Mods For Na???

Howdy all,

I just bought an 87 NA Supra automatic with 78k miles last month and I need some advice on the best way to redo the exhaust system. The stock muffler is starting to rust through and there is an exhaust manifold gasket leak. I'd like to replace everything with a good setup.
I'm not a racer, but I DO want the best performance for the buck I can get. I plan on keeping this car forever!

Thanks,

Well I would start with a high flow cat, and get a nice cat back from HKS, horsepowerfreaks.com sells a HKS "silent" exhaust system, its a bit pricey at $730 but it will give you a nice tone without the droan and raspyness of a strait pipe. I have the older version of this system, it has a duel tip though, and looks like stock, it has a real good deep tone at low rpms, and nice and quiet at highway speeds.

But if your into a louder exhaust there are a few cheap alternatives, there has been lately cheap ebay exhaust systems out now but they will not compare to a brand name exhaust. A different cheap alternatives would be the Monza cat back system.

Good luck.

I use to own a Monza catback, and IMO it totally sucked. Too much back pressure and it also sounded like crap. I would go a different route if I were you, and stay away from that Monza caback.

Spend the coin on the exhaust unless you dont mind people looking at your supra as just another "ricer" due to the horrible sound of your weedeater exhaust

I spent about 400 on the downpipe 100~ on test pipe and 600~ on the RSR*GT exhaust

I do have a turbo tho. but basically dont skimp here or u will regret it i am vry happy with my RSR but sadly i got one of the last 10 units and its not produced anylonger
