quick quesiton..

i found an mk3 and thinking about buying it, talked to the owner already.

it is 88 supra turbo with targa top. hks 75mm downpipe. blitz boost controller. lexus intake. Walbro Fuel Pump & Aeromotive press reg. ACT HD Perf Clutch.
HKS Head Gaskets/ARP Head Bolts. New starter & battery. New Front Seat Leather. Alpine System. all this for 5000. especially being told that the head gasket has been repaired already. just one question..

it says it as 150000 miles on it, but 1,500 on Top End Rebuild. what does that mean?

also with the mk3 being old, is it gunna be like constant repairs on it? or can hold off for awhile?

I would be wiry of this unless the owner can produce receipts of all the parts they purchased and installed. People can easily say they "rebuilt" the engine but a "rebuilt" engine to one person is a pos to another.

A top end rebuild can mean a few things, but usually the head is cleaned, planed, and sometimes port & polished. Other things can be done as well, such as new springs, retainer, valves, shims, cams, cam gears, etc..

As for the constant repairs, it depends on who did the work and the quality of their work. It also depends on how hard the car was run and if the previous owners did any up keep on the body, suspension, and steering. The cars' engine my last for years to come, but the other aspects may give out. If it has all the parts installed in a correct manner and has a strait body and shiny paint then $5000 seems like a decent price.

If you plan to have a Supra as a daily driver then you may be fine with that car, but these cars do have a tendency of getting into a line of trouble that seems as if it never ends. I daily my car now, and it has plenty of problems that I wish I could fix but can't because I rely on it.

What ever you decide, good luck.
