is there something wrong with my tranny?
 

It seems kind of difficult to put into gear/shift... is it just me not being used to it (I have been driving my girlfriends 86' celica), or is there something wrong???:confused:

Is it just me not being used to the wierd shifter, or is my transmission messed up. The owner before me told me that they put in a new stage 2 clutch not to long ago.

you could start with checking the tranny fluid to see how bad it is.... Then drop the pan and see how much metal is in there on the magnets.

Clutch is the first thing i would check. Bleed the system. How far up on the pedal travel does the clutch begin to engage?

I am not talking about the clutch being new or not, it has to be in the proper adjustment and the fluid line, like a brake line, must be completely free of air, so you need to bleed it first to make sure its free of all air.

To check manual transmission fluid you need the car to be level, and you need to remove the fill plug on the transmission, the fluid level should be even with the bottom of the fill hole.

not quite. You need to first bleed the clutch line fluid, it is totally separate from the transmission fluid. It is the fluid link between your pedal and the actual clutch.

When you are letting off the clutch, where does it begin to engage? Middle of the pedal travel? Closer to the floor? Closer to the top? This can help dtermine the adjustment.
