need help!

ok so i rebuilt my turbo and screwed up the balance. i plan to have it re-balanced at the gpop shop in AZ but for now i bought a used stock turbo to use. got the turbo, inspected it, cleaned it up, and everything looked good.

turns out the turbo i had on originally wasn't stock, so i replaced an upgraded turbo with a stock turbo. now i am in a slightly more af a rush to send off mine to be re-balanced but I need transportation in the mean time so i left the stock turbo on the car.

the problem is it idles good, high but good. when i step on the gas all power drops out. if I hold the gas down slightly then it lopes pretty bad.

any ideas?

i'm thinking vacuum or boost leak but i'm at a loss of where. i'm sure i put everything back correctly and tightly. if no one has any ideas i'll just keep looking for a leak somewhere.

I would honestly say if it idles high then it might be more of a vacuum leak more than boost. Check all of your vacuum hoses such as the ones on your waste gate since you had to disconnect it when you did the swap. I would say seeing as you were on that side of the motor to work on the turbo then it would be the place to start. Another thing to check is if there is a unburned fuel odor coming from the tail pipe. This would mean that the car was trying to flood because of the vacuum leak. I had the same problem with my 1JZ when I put it in I had to re route all of the vacuum lines because of everything being on a different side and it took me a while to figure out where I messed up.

OK so i had a vacuum leak on the driver side where i wasn't working. apparently a hose that i had just replaced broke off cause i clamped it down too tight.

After i repaired the vacuum leak the computer registered a fault code finally and from previous experience i know the cause. during all the work one day it started raining and my AFM got wet. so now it's bad and needs replacing. but at least i have a reason to upgrade to a Lexus AFM. while I am at it I am just going to go ahead and send my turbo off to be re-balanced that way a have a upgraded turbo and AFM. I'm also going to have to ask the turbo shop what size wheel upgrade i have as i can't tell by looking at it.

As I am going to be using my original turbo, I have a spare stock ct26 available for someone who needs it.
