this is a continuation of my other thread...

anyway, my idle has been high since i bought the supra, around 900-1000. ive replaced things and looked for leaks, and finally found the culprit. maybe. now I need to know whats wrong lol...

When i disconnect the small vacuum hose from my BOV and plug it, my idle goes down to normal. however, when i plug it back into the BOV, my idle shoots up to almost 1000 again. Do I have a faulty BOV? or is it supposed to do this?

Anybody have any updates? I want to try to get my car inspected tomorrow, but need this leak fixed first. i cant hold any boost over like .5 psi, and my vacuum at idle is pretty low.

im new too!

Hey, im new to this too, but i went and checked it out for you. when i unhook my bov line, my idle goes up, when i plug it with my finger it goes back down and when i hook it back to my bov, the idle goes down. therefore, i think you have a bad bov. try blowing air thru one side of it and see if you can feel it coming out the other side. you shouldnt be able to feel any air.

good luck

i think youre right saying that its bad. I cant blow from one big pipe out the other side, but if i bow in the pipe on the side with the vacuum nipple, air come out the vacuum nipple, and if i blow in the vacuum nipple, air comes out of the pipe on that side.

guess its time for a new bov!

I'm glad you mentioned this again SUB.

Why do you have an issue with an operating temp idle of 900 rpmish or so?

If you're warm. 900 is a good place to be.

Much lower than 800 and I seem to think I have to mash that focker to make things move.

What rpm idle speed are you aiming for???:squint:

slader99 05-14-2008 12:26 AM

He's probably aiming for the 650 RPM range ( I think thats what the idle is spec'd at for a warm, stock 7MGTE.

Subjug4tor 05-14-2008 02:14 AM

yeah, after blocking off the bov, my idle sits right around 650-750, depending on how hot it is.

supramacist 05-14-2008 04:19 AM

That just seems low to me.

Thanks I was just wondering.

I am an N/A so we will have differences in things like that.

But I will check up on what the na idle should be when I get back to that section.

slader99 05-15-2008 01:35 AM

I think your right, for your N/A i think somewhere around 750 RPM rings a bell.

supramacist 05-15-2008 01:59 AM

I hope you're wrong...., kinda.

Cause this high rev'n gas pumping tire slinging slut.

Won't tune down much past 900.:squint:

:gotnos:
