Rod bearings went out...

Well I fixed a a BHG after I bought the car. About 2 months later it develops a BAD knock. I am almost sure that a rod bearing went out.

First, I had to drive around 15-20 miles once it developed the knock so could that be enough to screw the crank?

Second, is it easier to lift the engine and remove the cross member or to pull the entire motor. Granted I have never pulled and engine before and don't have a lift.

Finally, how hard is it to replace the bearings and possibly the crank?

Thanks.

So, was there coolant in the oil when the HG blew?

Replacing bearings isn't fun... not by any measure, but I'm confident in the statement that it's not the hardest thing you'll face in life. Personally, if it were me, now is the time I'd plan on a rebuild and make sure that hence forth the engine will be reliable.

You are going to need to pull the engine... trying it with the block in the car is ill advised and MUCH more difficult than necessary.

Sounds like exactly what happened to me they ground my crank and its getting fully rebuilt now and i drove it till it was knocking so bad it sounded like it was going to explode
