where does it go?
I have an 89 non-turbo 5 speed. bought it with a bhg in pieces. almost done getting it all back together and there is one connecter I cannot find a mate for... on the intake side there is a small loom of wires that goes down through the lower intake manifold with connectors that go to the starter, tranny and a few other things. I got them all into the right places except one. it is a white 4 pin connector with 3 wires. they are yellow, black, and red with a black tracer. I can't for the life of me figure out where it came off of! please help!

I can think of only two places still to go over there. One is the back-up light switch on the side of the transmission. The other is a 4-pin small square connector for the ABS sensor for the rear axle. This sensor is on top of the transmission, and monitors the rear output shaft.

one thing I forgot to mention, the connector is short, it just barely reaches the starter so it has to be real close to the block but I just can't find it

Is it the knock sensor?? Just curious cause I didnt hook that up on mine but if I remember I think its a round connector. If you got a pic of it im sure someone would know what it is.

Still sounds like the ABS sensor connector. When I replaced the transmission in my '88, I was surprised that the connector was that far up. If I had time to crawl up under there, I'd take pictures. Can you wait until this weekend?

I probably could, or could you tell me where on the body the other end of the connector could be?

I said so in the first reply. The sensor is on top of the transmission, near the center of the tail housing. The wire from the sensor rides along the top, and comes out by the starter to the mystery connector your looking at.
