header question

My friend gave me his old ss header. My question is im trying to run stock turbo for now and the header has a wastegate flange on bottom,my turbo has one built in it,can i block the wastegate flange off an run stock turbo,or do i have to upgrade my turbo? alot of people told me diff things its an 89 turbo

keep the stock manifold, it will out flow the turbo. also is the manifold (headers) flanged for a ct? if not you would need an adaptor. as for the question about whether or not you can block off the internal wg, dont see why not, but why bother?

i was gonna block it off becuse didnt think i can run 2 wastegates, and turbo has one built on it,i wanted to wait till winter time to get new turbo. So i should just run old manifold?

wont the aftermarket header give me more hsp then stock one?

It will increase flow and probably give you a few horses but I would keep the stock manifold on until you get a new turbo, If you move the stock turbo to a new location the oil and water lines will not reach it correctly and you will have to run new ones, so I would wait so when you get the new turbo you can put new oil lines in.

ok thanx ill just use old manifold till i get enuf money for new turbo. Now im still gonna run my new 3in downpipe and get a aftermarket elbo,to a cutout on end of downpipe, then run stock exhaust.question is should i use a cut out or do a straight 3 in exhaust? an how much hsp will that give me

j3pz 04-03-2008 02:53 PM

personally a cut out isnt a bad idea, i would prefer an electric one but they are a lil more $$$. it depends if the extra work and money are worth the few hp it will free up, so the final sayso is up to you

thanx, doesnt cost that much,i can weld it on myself save me few bucks, just using car for drag strip
