Default Super Monitor date set

Anyone know how to get the 2-digit year to read "08" on a 1988 Super Monitor? Mine will accept "86" thru "06". Did Toyota figure nobody would keep this car for 20 years? For now I have set it to "98" unless someone has a solution. I did a search on FAQ and did not find the answer.
