Default New Supra OWNER.

Ok first off hello to all. I have recently bought my first Supra. It is an 88 turbo. I Currently own a 89 4x4 toyota and have owned 4 other corolla's. My questions are about some of the issues i am having.

1'st At first start up the transmission seems to want to stick in 1st. then when it shifts it is very aggressive from 1st to second only. Not to mention it whines. After it runns a bit (3-5 miles) it stops whining and shifts smooth.

2'nd when it is cold it wants to stutter and almost seem to skip. the turbo skips it runs very rough. again after about 1 mile it runs smooth. I was concerned about a BHG. so i did a run through and everything seems ok (yet to do a compression check) There is no smoke or gurggling sound. No moisture from the exaust. However I have to add fluid (radiator). I am about to put an electric fan on because the owner before me said the shroud broke. Resulting in a fan that is in VERY bad condition. broke blade and the others are mauled.

3rd is it seems that after the car has ran and warmed up the top radiator hose is very tight like there is alot of pressure. after it cools down it almost seems as though it has compressed and collapsed? Not sure if this may be a result in a faulty thermostat.

I will thank all in advance and I look forward to watching thing grow in the future. Thank you to all Larry, Valdosta GA

1. flush and refill tranny fluids. Possible faulty slave cylinder.
2. cold start injector malfunction
3. The hose collapsing probably means you have some air in the coolant system..., so burp her.

Pull codes and check for any and everything.
I hope this helps, it's just an off the top of my head as to what to check if it were me with these problems.

Pulled codes and none . As for the radiator I got a new cap problem solved. As for the Tranny its the same guess I will get it serviced and checked out at the local tranny shop. Also the cold start is still VERY ANNOYING. Dont know the problem there yet. (BUT I WILL).
