i recently took/cut off my muffler for now till i get a new one but i think it sounds good... ha. anyways after i took off the muffler i can really hear the turbo whistle. is that normal? because its very loud. anyways just a thought. anything would be great.

yes but turbos need back pressure you probably felt a loss in power right?

suprakid91 03-01-2008 10:25 PM

surprisingly no. i felt a gain. and i like it. i am boosting about 6.5 or 7 on my stock piecocrap gauge. so i went up in boost. i have two cats and a resignator so i think i have plenty of back pressure from them cats. but i get worse gas mileage. haha. thats a price i can handle... for now... ha

Back pressure is the LAST thing a turbo wants.

back pressure are more for N/As, turbo with less back pressure performs better.

turbos dont need back pressure,in fact its better for them not to have ....N\a do need some back pressure....

Like evryone has pretty much said back pressure is not needed and turbos perform better when it has less. I would suggest leaving a slight amount but not too much is needed definitly not as muchas the N/A version.

the only reasons for an exhaust on a turbo, that i can think of: put exhaust fumes away from car, keeps noise down, keep stuff from getting into turbo. to point out though, i drove with only the turbo elbow for a while, then put the exhaust back on. im planing a 3" turbo back.

ok then well i feel like a big retard shows what happens when you listen to what some people say that supposidly know about turbos and share that knowlege lol l:frown:
