GT500 mk3!!

thats right folks i have begun my jurney down the endless money pit of a project. i have become overly infactuated with the idea of makeing a JGTC style mk3 since the JGTC was not around when the mk3 was. so after spending countless hours researching i have finally started to order parts to creat this beast. my plan you ask, simple, build a 3sgte to 500hp and slap it into my 87 supra! crazy, maybe. stupid, a little. the full vision is 3sgte mounted to the w58 via adapting plate, one piece driveshaft, turbo rear end with cusco lsd, JIC coilovers, s2 carbon fiber doors, bm front lip, bomex side skirts, custom rear diffuser, JGTC style spoiler, and some g-games tabby rims but i cant decide on what rubber i want to rap them in.

what do you guys think? am i overambitious? has anyone heard of anyone attempting this?

It seems like you need to slow down and look more into what you are doing... You say you researched alot yet when u fixed ur head gasket u didnt have it properly machined and lead to a reoccuring problem....

So maybe before jumping into this you should research more, before u waste any more money....

and the 7MGTE is a good engine, why not just do a complete rebuild on what you already have... besides you will find much more help here with that than with a engine not many here deal with on a regular basis

or i mean you could just drop 23k and pick this up 700HP 3SGTE Motor

my problem wasnt with improper machine, according to the haynes manual everything was well within limits and i dont have the 7mgte i have the 7mge.
and 23k is way too much for a 700hp 3sgte, i already have the motor and 700hp is more than i need. im building a gt500 type car not gt700.

hehehe well have fun, i wish i had the tools and knowledge to do something to that extent.... one day i will.... i think ill have alotta fun when that day comes and i get to tear down my whole engine and rebuild it. ;)

Dont be afraid to ask around on the Celica forums for that year model they may have some more insight than us. Sounds look a fun projet make sure u give us lotsa pictures and infos about how u go about it

shineautoproject.com makes body kits if you need it and the fc rx7 rear diffuser they have will fit our cars. but what you described sound like any other socal supra with a bomex kit, doesnt sound like a jgtc car to me without going widebody

Did you say you were going to use the W58 transmission for all this? You do realize that this tranny will practically desenegrate with that sort of power, right? You should probably go ahead and order the R154 to replace your soon dead W58.

zambini 01-29-2008 04:43 PM

yeah man, r154 for SURE!! also, didnt mr2's come with this engine? id say get on the mr2 forums and the celica forums and read read read!! post threads and see what they think. as far as building the engine to 500 hp, that's not that crazy. but retrofitting it into a supra is a different story.

i dont want to be discouraging tho- i think it would be absolutely sick if you pulled it off.. so stay determined, but do some major homework before going about a project like this. dont wanna be half way through with the engine hangin half way out the engine bay, wires going everywhere.. only to get utterly stuck, nom sayin?

good luck tho!

peace

if its possible to drop a 3sgte in a camry its possible for a supra, you also consider weight reduction. 3500lbs is a lot for a 4 banger

zambini 01-29-2008 10:57 PM

a 500hp 4 banger..

i like this idea. a 3sgte will save a shitload of weight and clean up some room in the engine bay.

i second err third that on the tranny. a w58 is too small for that much power. a r154 will be able to handle it, as long as its in decent condition or rebuilt.

gl with this, it is a very interesting idea
