Any tips for cleaning the engine bay?

I don't think my engine bay has ever been cleaned out and i want to get rid of all the built up gunk/grime. I have read that Gunk's degreaser products are the best. Are there any sensitive areas on the 7M-GTE that should be cover'd?

just avoid sprayig water all over anything electronic, and if you do give it time to dry. That engine gunk stuff has people goin crazy but ive never had much luck unless you really scrub and use a high pressure hose nozzle to spray off. If you have access to a pressure washer thats the way to go. Also be careful about getting water into any open crankcase areas such as if the dipstick is not fully in or something silly like that

I have used BlackMagic engine degreaser/cleaner and it worked beautifully, I could see the factory paint again, lol. I never had luck with Gunk's, it just didn't get the bad stuff off. If the can says its ok to spray on electrical things then yea try it, but like CyFi6 said, be careful what you spray and let it dry for a while.

GREASED LIGHTNING ! I used it . Its at autozone. Automotive grade. I didnt dilute it at all . Just spray on let sit for a bit then hose off. Be carful of electronics. Very strong stuff !

maybe ill try it, have had a hard time getting it clean.... All gunks did for me was make all my hoses have white speckels on them bah.... Simple Green or w/e its called did ok, but still left over alota stuff...

Anything good for polishing metal up, or returning black to hoses lol, whats good to wipe down silicone with?

any types of spray paint that are good for engine bays? how about any paints that help sheild things from heat?

some brackets and things look pretty beat up thinking of painting them, also want to try something to make the heat sheild around my turbo look better erm

Some auto parts stores (like my local Kragen) have "engine block paint". Don't know if it has any heat-repelling additives, but I do know it's made to withstand high temperatures. Also have exhaust paint that may work for your heat shield.

using tire shine on black hoses works wonders! you can also go to a quarter wash place for a nice pressure wash if nothing else..

Gold Nugget here Gents.
PB BLaster.

If you think you like wd40.
You won't after you use this stuff once.

Cleaning engine bays you spray this on and soak it and comeback later and wipe it off with a rag.

It's like wd40 but there's no water.
Everything you guys have mentioned...., basically.

PB BLAster covers it.
Just make sure you choose firm cans.
The old cans lack propellants.
