Intake help!
I just joined the ranks today when I bought an '88 Supra N/A. (This must be what its like to come home from Iraq - I was a Mitsu guy for about 6 years which equivalates to jail or military service in a hot zone, or an uncomfortable STD). This supra drove out of a time warp from 1988 - looks brand new in, out, and under - completley stock down to the head unit (really neat, by the way). I would like to make a few adjustments to wake the car up a bit, but i'm not willing to comprimise the integrity of the origional parts.
Does anyone know of a manufacturer of a cold air intake? perhaps just an adapter for my cone air filter would do the job cost-effectively. Are there any suggestions for an aftermarket ignition system? I've wired big block chevy's (350, 454) with MSD systems from mod to plug(plugs were ACDelco rapid fires, actually) but didnt notice any significant change. What are the recommended SFMS platforms for my supra? Where can I find air dam's for the front of the car? Any advice would be great! |
K&N makes good products, such as the cold air intake you were speaking of, and I believe that you can get a MAF sensor adapter/filter from them as well. However, the downside to K&N filter's is that when you clean it, you'll have to re-oil it, possibly causing damage to intake sensors. I believe it's AEM that has dry filters (don't need to oil them), which might be a little more, but better for your car in the long run.
If you're looking to keep your 7MGE Supra (7MGE being your N/A's engine code) as a reliable commuter, you'll do your car could use a good tune up. Get the timing checked (or do it yourself), check/replace the belts and hoses (don't forget the systems of vacuum hoses), replace spark plugs, distributor cap, spark plug wires, etc... |
this would help maybe im too late but this is what i got
1986-1992 Toyota Supra - Spectre Mass Air Flow Sensor Adaptor you see the holes on the adapter but that is for show, the holes you will need to drill yourself i got mine without the holes. |
