How can I make my blown engine Supra back into something that will run for 5 years?
I have a 1991 7MGE Supra and recently the engine burned out from lack of oil. The engine had around 180,000 miles. I want this car to run for another 5 years at least. It has a new radiator, transmission, clutch, battery, tires, muffler, and starter. How many more years could I get with a rebuilt engine and how many more years could I get with a new engine with around 40-60k miles? Are there any other parts in the car that I should be worried about?
I will be working on this car in the next half year and hopefully bring it back to prominence. To start I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find an online copy of the owner's manual? Thanks for the help. |
if you do a proper rebuild and drive it well and maintain it well, as well as use quality parts and make sure they are in strict tolerances, you should have a motor that will last you way over 5 years. Cars can last a lifetime, people just drive them hard and dont maintain them.

He's right. Even if you buy a used one with low miles and the compression and leak down checks out, all you have to do is PROPERLY maintain it and you can have a car for well over 5 years.
