Where is this vacuum line saposed to connect to?
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...carpicture.jpg
coming from the bottom of the accordian hose. So i am guessing then, that this vacuum line is not routed properly? or is it? If not what plugs into the metal line that comes out of the bottom of the charcoal canister |
There should be a vac diagram under the stock hood.
|
not shown on that vacuum diagram, i have not seen it on any diagrams ;)
|
not sure what connects to the charcoal canister but that vacuum line coming from the from the accordian hose goes to a metal line in front of the power steering pump.
|
do you have a picture? just went out there too look and im not see'n a metal line for the vacuum hose to connect to arround the pwr steering pump.
|
I don't think it's actually on the p-stump.
I think it's a bit lower and in that immediate area. But I drive an n/a so I could be mistaken. |
ya i cannot seem to find it
|
i removed the accordian hose and was able to see that it connects to a valve assy thing on the bottom left pulley thing.
which is broken on the steering pump and on the extra one, way to go toyota make a 175 dollar part outa plastic YEAH! ;) anyways can anyone shine some light on where that metal pipe off the bottom of the charcoal canister is saposed to connect to? |

The pipe on the charcoal canister should just vent into the air but it connects to a small hole in the frame. That is how it was on both of my 87 Turbos and also the peice that is broken is on the Powersteering pump is a valve that will go bad after some time. Is your powersteering hard or does your ps pump make noise? |
actually latly its been squeeking or vibrating when i turn the wheel while car is slow moving or stationary
All this after i had someone do my timing..... Oh ok, thanks for info on charcoal canister ;) |

Wow, you've bumped a VERY old thread... don't know if any of the original posters will ever see it.
The fresh air inlet at the bottom of the charcoal canister is only held by a rubber grommet in the frame. The other end is not plumbed anywhere.... it just can't open into the engine bay in case fuel vapors should start venting out of it due to a bad valve. |

Turns out there was this metal rod connecting that hose to the hose coming out from the bottom of the charcoal canister, i knew it was there cause i saw the rod dangling and it had the other torn part of the hose with the clamp on it, yet i looked up hose diagrams and it shows that its supposed to be open to let air flow. So whats the hose (shown above) go to? Edit: Sorry for the huge pic, but it doesnt expand further so guess its alright. |
Could be the drain for the condensation pan for the A/C.... I really can't remember.
|
I think that is for the a/c drain since it drips water on my aftermarket header.

Thanks cre and 907!
I can now rest peacefully knowing thats not a issue, still concerned me to as why it was plugged to the bottom of the charcoal canister, time to talk with the last person to be in there haha. Thanks for the information again fellas |
