Hks Fmu

I have an old HKS FMU that came with my old turbo, I was wondering if any one would know how to hook up the vacuum lines, the electrical is no big deal?

Supra girl its very simular to the on you have pics of on your web site!

FMU?

i must be asleep right now coz i can't think of any device other than a boost controller that uses vacuum & wiring lol

I forgot to take pics of it last night but I will tonight and post the pics so you can see what Im talking about. It has the fuel map digm. and the window for the air fuel ratio. electric harness and a barbed fitting for vacuum lines take in consideration that this unit was brand new in 1984. I got the whole set up for free at a car show a few years back and I have finaly found a repair kit for the turbo. the fmu is the only thing i have not yet figured out how to hook up.

here is my web page it has the pics on it.http://www.geocities.com/dragoneddie...1985turbo.html

suprra_girl 09-27-2006 09:21 PM

i should probably imagine that it is very close to an fcon in it's wiring

where are the vacuum lines coming/going from/to?

supra1985turbo 09-28-2006 10:45 AM

The vacuum lines are coming out of the back by the electrical conection, My camera crapped out so I didn't get a pic of that. But thats the question I have the complete harness from the ecu to fuel computer and to the timeing retard system but do not know where the vacumm lines would go. If you look at one of the pics you can see the vacuum lines in the back ground, They are Y'd of I have know clue!!!!!

suprra_girl 09-28-2006 11:10 AM

i would imagine logically that the vacuum would be manifold pressure

makes sense to me lol

supra1985turbo 09-28-2006 11:29 AM

Okay but from where to I just T off some where before or after the throttle body. or would it run to the fprv? and the T that is already on the line would that go to the timing retard system, because its got a vacuum nipple too?

suprra_girl 09-28-2006 10:56 PM

umm.. no it doesn't go to timing anything ;)

the y would have been used as a joiner to go inbetween two vacuum lines

excuse my extremely terrible drawing ability but you get the idea lol

supra1985turbo 09-29-2006 10:59 AM

Ok but were would the split line run to?

suprra_girl 09-29-2006 11:34 AM

theres only one main vacuum port on the 7m intake manifold

and as per my crappy drawing that would be on the back lol (closest to the firewall)

supra1985turbo 09-29-2006 11:39 AM

I'm sorry did I forget to say it was for 1985 5MGE

midwestmk2 09-30-2006 10:04 PM

Ok!! After some serious deliberation i have come to this decision..The 85 5MGE has only one major manifold vacume port also as the 7M..The diference is ours is on the front..The port on the front has a rubber line that is only about 2-3" long..Then it goes into a hard line that goes under the intake to the back of the motor..This hard line consists of 2-3 lines in one housing..The other lines run to a few misc. sensors that i have removed along with the EGR and other emission peices..This then goes into another rubber line that is only 2-3" long and stops at the FPR..So i figure that you will be able to either splice in at the front or the rear line to get the vacume you need ..I myself have not had to deal with these kinds of electonics as of yet but i have been doing alot of homework for the possible road ahead..I hope this helps.. Good luck and keep us posted
