I have a few ?s

I have heard alot of people saying they are going to run a 5m head on a 7m, does this mean I could run a 7m head gasket on my 5m. Thanks

Yes you can run the 7m head gasket..You can not however run a 5m head on a 7m or visa versa..Well not easily anyway..You will have to hav a set of 6m timing gears and a shit load of money and time..I am currently running the 7m HKS metal head gasket in my 5m..Just get the thinner of the bunch to up the compression just a little..

I did not go in depth with this. I have a 5mge with a 7mgte manifold and a CT26. the guy before me did the work and it needs help. I think I am going to run an SCE titan copper head gasket about .060 thick. how does that sound.

That should be about right for your apllication ..

boosted5mge 09-08-2006 05:13 AM

If the head gasket will work then why are they not the same part number from any company at all. What exactly is different about them. Thanks

midwestmk2 09-08-2006 05:23 AM

There is no real difference..The 5,6,and 7m all use the same blocks they just vary in the stroke and the 7mgte also came with oil squirters in the block..One of the major things you notice are the heads..The 7m went to the 24 valve cylinder heads..The 6m is a 3.0 motor that uses the 7m bottom end with the 5m head..The 6m has its own special crank timing gear to make up for the stroke difference..The front timing covers are also different but still bolt up the same just a slightly different shape casing..The exhaust gaskets are the same shape also..

Thanks for all the help. Do you know of anyone personally that has boosted a 5mge. If so, what should I look for as far as problems. Thanks

All i can say is beware of starvation..If she runs lean she wont run for long..

I have a walbo 255 in the tank and an aeromotive regulator with the boost reference on it, BUt I need bigger injectors and a fuel management.

supra1985turbo 09-22-2006 06:05 PM

bigger injectors are a must or the car will run crappy. the cheapest way is to go with 7mgte injectors 440cc. they will supply enough fuel for your starved engine and running that turbo I would just say you need an aftermarket fuel regulator to keep about 60 to 80 PSI The 7m 440cc injectors are a plug and play setup intake, fuel rail and electrical
