Electric radiator fans, who has done it.
 

I am planning on replacing my clutch fan (that just failed), with a 16" electric fan for $65 and an adjustable theromstat for $38.

Has anyone done this.

IF so, was it easy?

What fan, themostat did you used.

A singal fan or a double.

What is the price and where did you get it?

radiator fans are generally easy to hook up.
im running a ??12''?? Lexus ls400 fan on my truck.
all though i didn't buy a fancy adjustable thermostat for hook up, i used a 2 doller 2-way switch and put it in my dash. there is also the option of a 3-way switch(on/off/acc) so it turns on with your ignition.

16'' will have no problems cooling your 5mge. 2 small one's will work fine as well.

Does the stock Clutch fan pull or pushes air through the radiator?

I just realized that the 16" is to big for my radiator.

I have to go to a 14" fan.

I hope this will not pose a problem?

I am exchanging my 16" for 14" with 1600 cfm

I need my car for work and college.

the stock fan is on the engine side of the rad. so it Pulls air through the radiator.
i am not sure of cfm of the stock fan.
whats your rad. condition? maby its time for a flush or new rad?? and how did your clutch fan fail if you don't mind me asking?

ive been reading it and i already want one. the two fans pull 2500cfm.
but i don't see why 1600cfm would not suffice, IF your running a stock 5mge.

also some custom mods to keep air flowing through the rad. instead of around. would be good.:bigthumb:

This is the fan setup I run, and a lot of people on yellowbullet forums run it as well. It fits my aluminum radiator fine, but not sure about the stock one.

I just install the 14" electric fan for $67 That was easy. The hardest part was removing the clutch fan.

I talked the parts guy I trust at the Advance auto parts, he told I can still put a 10" on my car with relays for both fans. If realy need it.

If I am not racing, one fan should work very well.

The 14" is used on some small v8's. Therefore it should work for you inline 6 cyclinder.

I still have to put the external thermostate for the fan on.

I keep the stock shroud on.

Where did you get the Aluminum radiator at and what is the cost.

There is another opition for me, is to put another 10 fan on my radiator. but I will lose the shroud.

I will be waiting for you comments or/and your advice.
