im thinking that a w58 should hold my 1uz just fine as long i keep tire hop to a minimum any ideas on how to do so??

either way, im gona start lookin for more w58's. i have heard 3 people say now that the r154's dont shift as nice....

I've heard that the w58 can take 400+ but die after time.

bakin, id drive one personally b4 u write it off. i know for a fact that w56's (essentially a 4wd version of the w58) doesnt handle much over 300lb ft of tq. freind has a sbc powered yoter, and he went through several w56's, even a marlin crawler built one.

id recommend an r154, buuuut, there are other alternatives i guess....could put a z31 or z32 5 speed out of a nissan in it (blasphemy!!) haha.

but seriously, id see if you could drive an r154, vs taking all our or some other yahoo's words from online as gospel. ive driven a couple turbo supras and a 7m swapped truck with the r154 4x4 converted tranny, and they dont necessarily shift as easy, but if you let the tranny do what it wants when shifting, instead of man handling it, they are veeery nice, and u know your not gonna blow it.

.02, cheers!

the w58 should be fine without a lot of clutch drops or bouncing off the rev limiter. im running one in my miata with a semi built 7mgte and its holding fine with drifting and autox as well as VERY spirited street driving. just make sure you use a good quality shock proof lube (redline in my opinion is perfect) they put the w58 behind the 2jzge in the lexus cars that were 5 speed and they all seem to hold up fine as well. all you can do is try it though if you can find one cheap enough its worth it to go w58 and just save up for the r154 (thats what im doing) and ive seen a few people use them in 240sx's with 1uz swaps as well they seem to hold up pretty good.

think im just going to stockpile w58's. there is no r154s where i am.
