New Guy...Engine Needs Time Please Help

Hey New to The Supras. Not Heavily Into Imports but I Want to Expand My Knowledge and Not Have A Close Mind.

Im Planning On Getting An 82 Stock. but it needs to be timed.
My ? Is Has Any1 Time Their Engine be4 Themselves? If So Was It Easy or A little More Effort Than Forcasted? And Some Steps Would Help Me 2.
Or Maybe A Link To Answer My Question, like a "how to".
...If You Got This Done By A Shop How Much Did It Cost?

Thanks 4 Any Feedback.

If you're only referring to the spark advance (aka ignition timing) you may skip to page IG-10. I believe this will be the same on your car as it was for the 86 which is the year this manual was written for.

If I Do Get The Car I'll Let You Know How It Went

there is little difrance between 82-86, im using an older head on my 84 right now.

make sure to use a timing light and jump T and E1

Ignition Timing is 10 degree's @ BTDC @ T and E1

good luck

I was thinking of electrical changes. Toyota changed the ECU construction in the middle there and the diagnostic connectors changed along with a fair amount of wiring... I just don't know all the details.

I just looked it up and Toyota switched the MKII to their TCCS system in '83. So it's probably '82 and some '83 (L-Type vs P-Type). If anyone has more info or info to the contrary I'd like to know, I'm just going off of a quick survey of Google and CelicaSupra.

worth reading if you like the mkII

its mostly about appearance and hp ratins and rear end/trans. ratios.
