I just picked up an MKII from some hillbilly's girlfriend on the south side, and somethings wrong with it. I put the pedal to the floor, and nothing. It takes a loooong time to hit its powerband, which is (from what i can tell) about 3500 - 5000 revs. The idle was waay low, so I tightened the idle cable to the max and its still at around 650 rpms. It dies at most stops. The suspension feels a little wobbly, but then my previous car was a 240SX, maybe thats just how other cars feel. It's an automatic, and it feels like the U-joints are about to snap whenever i drop it into gear. There are, of course, quite a few cosmetic problems. Average dings and dents, alittle paint peel, but thats it. If you know how I can get this engine problem worked out, pleeeease let me know. Until I can get it fixed, I'll be driving the 240, in which most of the frame is completely rusted through. So please, respond quickly and save my life.

Hey whats up got your message sent you another one.. When you say it takes a long time to get up in RPM.. Does it do it at a stand still in park also..Does it sound kinda like its missing but its not, like the exhaust sounds subdued or muddy not crisp and clean.. If so its got either a blown head gasket or a cracked head..If so dont drive it.. if it blowes out completly and you get water in the oil and the mains youll ruin them..I did that to my last motor.. Thats why im waiting on a metal head gasket.. My new engine had a cracked head, got a new one and now its time for the gasket..Could also be a vacume leak start the car and spray starting fluid around the intake ducting to see if it idles up if it does theres your leak.. Your timing belt could be worn out and has skipped a tooth or 2 causing the timing of the cams to be off.. Pull the cover and put the crank at 0 TDC and see if the timing marks on the cam gears line up with the marks on the backing plate(little half circles cut out on the top inside) Let me know how these thing check out and ill give you a few more to check..

You say it feels like the u-joints are gonna snap whenever you put it in gear, what kind of noise are you hearing. And as far as the wobbly suspesion, thats not normal, mine handles nice and smooth, and sure as hell is not wobbly at all. If you could also describe what your describing as feeling wobbly a little better, any noises, does feel like the whole front end of the car is about to fall apart, as much info as possible would be helpful.

check the valve timing if its off by one notch the car will have bad power at low and top rpms

My mk2 was missing and dying too. All it was is that the intake want connected right so i had a HUGE vacume leak. Check all your vacume lines and your intake manifold.
