Default NEED A NEW PAINT JOB help

I'm about to buy an 89 toyota supra, the car is in pretty good condition except the paint. the hood is faded pretty bad but the rest of it is okay except for some scratches...i don't have a lot of money to spend either, like no more than a few hundred. any suggestions? i've heard maaco can do a 250 paint job but since the paint on it is already pretty bad i'm not sure if i'd be wasting my money...but it might be my only option besides painting it myself.

heres the link to a picture of the car-

try some meguiar's ultimate compound, or Scratchx and a power buffer
to see if that will make it look good enough until you can save up some money for a decent paint job.

If the paint is starting to peel you can sand down the area with 1000 grit, and get a can of edging clear and respray the hood. But I would try to use some compound with a buffer and then maybe even hand glaze it see what happens. It does work wonders to buff your car, if the scratches are not too deep.

IMO Maaco paint jobs are definitely not worth the money, even if it is cheap. The peeling paint you have would look better than the horrible orange peel its gonna get from Maaco. And I dont think the $250 includes door jams or under hood. But thats just my opinion, and an opinion is like an ass hole, everybody has one.

Also to save your self a few bucks you can do all the prep work your self like sand it all down mask off what needs to be and take off the trim and all the other stuff And if needed fill in the dents and what not You will save your self alot of money that way

My guy needs a new paint job too. The clear coat is peeling and the paint is faded. A shop quoted me at 2500 for a paint job. That includes removing things such as lens, etc.
My high pressure hose on the power steering blew and is still not ready Think the 86.5 3 litter was rated at 200 hp? Well fast enough for me.

this is an old post and allot of good tips have been said allready so just to chime in. Places like maaco do decent paint jobs cheap.. Do not allow them to do the prep work. 1 it increases the cost and 2 Ive heard nothing but BAD reviews about them and the final results.

the best rout to go is either drop big bucks and have a GOOD paint shop do it or do all the prep work yourself then take it into a budget paint shop.. Id do the latter.

Yea, would do the work myself but it is too hard on me. My injuries from Iraq prevent me from doing a proper job. I am down to doing only the most minor of work How do you know what is a good shop?
