Anyone install XM/Sirius in a targa?
I have a cassette adapter XM unit for my car. Since I am replacing the head unit anyway I thought I'd put in one that has XM built in. I'd like to have the antenna mounted on the outside of the vehicle but I am not certain where to put it. The targa roof gives me pretty limited space on top unless I can somehow get the cable from the head unit up into the B pillar. The hood doesn't seem a good choice and the hatch seems problematic. Anyone else "solve" this problem?

you can easily run the antenna behind the dash and under the little trim piece along the floor beneath the door, then up under the rear targa seal to the roof

old thread but Ill add my 2 cents.
I installed a sirius 5 were my ash tray used to be (non in car smoker) my power cables to my subs and amp run on the driver side so to lessen bulge and electronic static I opted to run my sirius antenna on the passenger side. from behind my dash I disconnected my ciggerret lighter and installed a new one behind my stratus 5 out of sight. (leaving my stock lighter well intact) ran the wire down the center behind my passenger kick pannel. under the door runner and behind the rear passenger plastic to the hatch were I ran it under the weather stripping to the top right cornor then bounded it to the stripping till the center and placed it directly center behind targa top. total install time.. 4 beers and one allmost ripped out back seat. (getting that fucking screw below the passenger side speaker to remove the plastic is a BITCh if you cant take out your back seat.) |
