Question Knock Sensor

Looking into the guide on this process, gonna do it first day i have off

But i have a question, what exactly is the point of running a ground on both sides of the wire?? Is it ok if i just ground the side in the engine bay?

Also, i read somewhere about crimping the connections to the ecu adds extra resistance to the wire and can throw off the ECU's reading. Would soldering both ends help this any?

Soldering doesnt seem that difficult, but this will be my first time doing it, any tips?

Tips?

Find a shop because if you frag your ecu.
You're looking at about 1 grand.

what do you mean frag? ....

Oh and there are no shops anywhere around me who are at least partially good at what they do. or know what a turbo is, or know how to work on a 1990 vehicle... this includes the dealerships in the area who couldnt even do a proper break job, had to take vehicle back to them 4 times... sigh thanks but i will take the chances doing it myself.

Any tips would be appreciated though

How to Solder | DoItYourself.com

Soldering Tools

I found this guidence with some soldering tips and just wanted to get a few clarifications

So for soldering wire for the knock sensor i need to coat the soldering iron with a tin compound, with this i coat the outside of the wires then when i begin to solder the wire together i need to apply a rosin-core.

What kind of rosin-core should i use for this job?

Type //%Tin//% Lead//Melting Temp (°F)
50/50//50//50//425
60/40//60//40//371
63/37//63//37//361

Frag means to fluck up and fry.
If you don't know how to Do it why are you experimenting with your car???

it's not an experiment, it is true i am a new mechanic and the only experience so far ive had is with my vehicle, but i always make sure i research and find the proper guidence before i do a project...

I don't just jump in, and all i am trying to do is ask for any tips/ or help you or someone else could provide, you talk about supramainia being a bunch of elitist snobs and they dont help new people, this is basically what you are doing to me.
