I wouldn't consider a 200+K mile MKIII a good contender for a daily driver. I met a local guy here who was asking the same questions about a 200K mile MKIII which had verifiably been rebuilt once and had the HG replaced a second time. It's a nice car, the interior and exterior are immaculate but he's had the replace the HG AGAIN, had to replace the rear main seal, had the transmission rebuilt and so on.... I'm not going to tell you not to, but you better have backup transportation and you better be able to work on your own car.
