The newer ARP studs have an allen key so they may be installed/removed while the head is in place.

If it is a largely stock build either one is just fine. For higher power setups studs provide MUCH more clamping force and provide more accurate torque.

Also, the forst time the bolts are installed you are supposed to retorque them after several complete heat cycles. If they're being reinstalled you don't. It not a bad idea to retorque studs too though.
