the stock weight of the car should be found printed on a sticker on the side of the driver door. As for mods, cheapest, quickest and best options are probably cold air intake and exhaust system... Not sure if grounding straps help these late models, but they're goin' in my mk3 if I ever find out they do.

As for the new supra thread... grats on your new mk3. I see the same thing WAAAAAY too often tho, and am even guilty of it myself. Someone gets a new mk3 and gets gung ho with hopes and dreams of making it a kick ass 420hp @ the wheel beast.. Firstly, you'll only get that high of power on a turbo engine. Secondly, Toyota screwed up some info in their manuals which have caused problems in the past.. mainly the torque settings they specified for the head bolts is waaaay under torque, giving you greater chance to blow that head gasket. If you've gotten a garage kept, sunday driver, from an owner who babied the car since the late 80's/early 90's.. awesome deal. However, in the more likely event this wasn't in mint condition already, you should check things on the mk3 first. Check the radiator for flow, debris and give a pH block test to see if your head gasket is ok. Do your timing... I even had to do my timing and when I bought the car it was working great. Other than that, I think you should be ok. The 7m heats up like a forge, I'd definitely make sure the cooling, if nothing else, is up to performance levels. I still need a fan & shroud assembly (or a shroud and new fan clutch) to fix my cooling... Good luck to you.. and welcome to the wide world of the mk3 Supra.

Note: If you have a 7mgte already, you shouldn't really have to worry about what turbo anyone would recommend... unless you're upgrading. However, the 7mge block MIGHT be able to take a turbo, but from what I've read, it's not worth it nor is it advised due to the compression ratio on the 7mge. The compression ratio in the 7mgte was made to account for turbo, the 7mge was not.. I guess if you wanted to do some work on the block yourself, you could make it happen...
