With the TT, you get a better ignition system, better brakes (both abs and calipers are vastly superior), better suspension, a better block (oil squirters), a better diff, etc., etc., etc. In short, no, you made the right decision, imho. Besides, if you drag race or 'street race', the auto will be faster in most conditions. Pretty much the only thing a 6spd is better for is roadracing.
