I think because most people don't deck the block and only plain the head, is the basis of the argument, because in theory with out doing the block and the head, the surface isn't flat enough for an MHG.

I lapped my block, I did it in the car even. Some would say that is wrong.
But to the point. I had the head done completely. I used an HKS 2.mm stopper mhg. So atleast I'll never be accused of cutting corners or skimping on parts.

I almost went beaded and wanted to spend more money than I needed too.

I'm not done with my build just yet thanks to some of my vendors not working over the holiday. I'm down to a few pipes and som vac lines. Oil change then fire.

EDIT: I used arp studs. Be e a utifull.
I have ARP studs. I thought a good idea would be to install studs first then gently lower the head on. Turns out this doesn't work as the heater union hits the firewall lip. I don't think I can remove the union then fit it back on later as the big 32mm socket wont fit. Now the dilema is can I install these studs after I seat the head...not much room to hand tighten the studs well. How did you do it???
